Program Description
Syracuse University’s College of Law and Falk College of Sport offer a combined program leading to the Juris Doctor (JD) and the Master of Science in Sport Analytics (MS). The program allows qualified students to earn both degrees in approximately three years of full-time study, with a total of 102 credits (including 21 credits of overlap).
The JD/MS program provides advanced training in legal analysis, data analytics, econometrics, and sport industry applications. Graduates will be equipped to serve in roles that require deep understanding of both regulatory frameworks and analytical decision-making—such as compliance, governance, litigation, NIL management, sports betting regulation, and front-office strategy.

The JD is accredited by ABA.
The MS does not hold individual accreditation; however, Syracuse University is accredited by Middle States Commission on Higher Education
Admission
Applicants to the College of Law are not required to present college credit in a particular subject area. A broad general education is helpful preparation for law study. Above all, prospective law students should be able to use language effectively. Applicants should have the ability to communicate ideas orally and in writing with precision and clarity.
The Admissions Committee at the College of Law considers the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores and writing samples, transcripts showing records of prior academic performance, letters of recommendation, and any other documentation submitted by applicants indicating likely success in the demanding law school curriculum and legal profession.
Applicants to the Masters of Science must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a tertiary degree that is deemed to be comparable to a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
Qualified applicants should have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate-level course in statistics or show significant experience using statistics in a professional capacity and prior sport experience preferred, but not required. Experience may include job or internship experiences.
Applications will be submitted online and will include: 1) Official transcripts from each institution attended. 2) GPA and Test Scores - A GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate studies is required. GRE or GMAT are not required but could be submitted (if completed) on the student’s behalf.

Transfer Credit
A student may earn limited credit toward the J.D. degree by taking offerings at other American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law schools or foreign law schools in accordance with ABA Rule 505. Transfer credit is not accepted for the Master of Science program. Transfer credit accepted by the Law program will not be applicable to the MS program.
Part-time Study
Allowed during the completion of both degree programs. The MS degree should be completed within the same three-year period of the JD. For the JD program, any residential student admitted on a part-time basis shall be deemed a part-time student and shall be required to satisfy the following course requirements for part-time residential students so long as the student remains a part- time student. Residential students in a part-time program must successfully complete ten semesters or less in part- time status. Residential part-time students must adhere to the following minimum and maximum course loads. Therefore, the MS program would mirror these allowances but must complete the MS degree within ten semesters or less.
Time to Degree
Students must meet all requirements for the master’s degree within seven years from the time the student registers for the first course to be used in the master’s degree program. If a student does not meet this requirement, the student may petition their school/college for reinstatement of credits that were completed outside the seven-year timeframe.
Satisfactory Progress
All students in the JD program, whether full-time or part-time, JDi or JDr, who have a GPA below 2.50 in the Required Lower-Division Courses (courses take the first four semesters) upon completion of such courses will be dismissed without the right to petition for academic probation or appeal. For the Master of Science degree, each course must be passed to move along to the next course in the sequence. A minimum semester GPA of 2.5 must be maintained. An overall 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for graduation.
