Track One:

30 credits in courses numbered 201 and above in two of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Normally students will take 15 credits in each of the two languages. However, they may petition to take 18 credits in one language and 12 in the other.

Students may be able to petition to pursue courses in a language other than Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Students interested in this option should consult with the World Languages and Cultures advisor as early as possible.

Track Two:

Students can opt to take 27 credits (level 201 or above) in one language (either French or Italian) PLUS one of the following courses: LIN 201 The Nature and Study of Language; LIN 202 Diversity of World Languages; or any LIT (World literature in translation) class.

World Languages and Cultures majors are strongly encouraged to spend a semester or a year abroad in a country that speaks the chosen languages(s) of their program.
